At the age of 2, Silver Hawk was sent to Great Britain to begin his career as a racehorse. In England that year, Silver Hawk won the Intercraft Solario Stakes and placed second in the gr. II Royal Lodge Stakes.
At the age of 3 and still in England, Silver Hawk won the gr. III Ladbroke Craven Stakes and placed third in the gr. I Epsom Derby. Silver Hawk was then sent to Ireland where he finished second in the gr. I Irish Sweeps Derby. Following his gutsy performance in the Sweeps Derby, Silver Hawk was retired to stud.
Silver Hawk has become firmly established in the top echelon of international sires and arguably as Robertos most successful son. Silver Hawk has sired 99 stakes horses, 60 stakes winners, including 29 graded stakes winners (14 Grade 1 winners). Silver Hawk is also the sire of 2 Champions and over $41 million in progeny earnings. Among his 14 G1 winners are gr. I Epsom Derby winner and English 3-year-old champion Benny the Dip ($1,427,414), 1999 gr. I English St. Leger winner Mutafaweq ($1,800,801), Grass Wonder ($5,987,405), multiple G1 winner and champion in Japan. He has also sired millionaire Hawkster, millionaire Memories of Silver, Red Bishop, Hawk Attack and Silver Ending, plus Magnificent Star in England.
