Winner of 11 graded stakes races, Gentlemen was a champion racehorse on two continents. At the ages of 2 and 3, he races in his native Argentina, and at the age of 3, Gentlemen was named Champion Three Year Old Colt, one of the highest honors in that country.
During those years in Argentina, Gentlemen won the Arg-I Gran Permio Nacional, Arg-I Polla de Potrillos, and the Arg-I Dos Mil Guineas.
After his successful campaign in Argentina, his connections decided to try him in North America and Gentlemen did not disappoint. At the age of 4, he won the gr. II Citation Handicap, the gr. II Bay Meadows Handicap and the gr. III Native Diver Handicap.
At the age of 5, Gentlemen won the gr. I Pacific Classic, defeating some of the best in the game including Siphon, Crafty Friend and River Keen. He continued by winning the gr. I Hollywood Gold Cup, again defeating Siphon, and in the gr. I Pimlico Special, he impressively defeated champion and eventual Horse of the Year, Skip Away.
In his final racing season before stud duty at Walmac International, Gentlemen finished his brilliant career by winning the gr. II San Antonia Handicap, while taking second to Free House in the gr. I Pacific Classic, second to Wagon Limit in the gr. I Jockey Club Gold Cup (defeating Skip Away), and an incredible second to Skip Away in the gr. I Woodward Stakes.
